Title III-E,
of the Older Americans Act is a new statewide initiative being administered
by Area Agencies on Aging across New York State. This program is
designed to address the needs of caregivers of the elderly and grandparent
caregivers so that they can be better prepared to care for their
loved ones.
CONFERENCE
CONTENT:
During this
video conference, experts from New York State and beyond will share
their program development experience in the area of caregiver support
and assistance and discuss how their programs have successfully
helped caregivers in their communities. Among the topics to be covered
are:
- How to identify
the needs of caregivers in your community
- What types
of programs help caregivers the most and where they are most often
located in local communities
- How can you
reach caregivers so that they can benefit from the programs you
put in place in your community
- How to reach
caregivers before a crisis strikes
- What special
program and information needs do grandparent caregivers have
- How can area
agencies on aging and other community-based senior providers work
in their communities to strengthen and build programs designed
to help caregivers
LOCATION:
Downlink sites will be available at local county Departments of
Social Services and other sites throughout New York State. To Register,
contact the Site Coordinator in the county to which you wish to
participate.
